    That method of depriming is only usable on non crimped primers and is the messiest method. Wear your rain coat and hat. The RCBS decapper is the best method and will work on most all ctgs. If you have the new primers, you are in luck, otherwise you will be wasting your time.

    that guy is complicating a very simple process, many years ago, just for the fun of it i took some Berdan primed brass, filled it half way with water, then took a rod i made on my lathe, put it in the case mouth, placed it over a hole in my bench and whacked it with a hammer and out come the spent primer, into a coffee can under the bench to catch the primer and water, no water in the press to have to clean up, i never did reload them as the Berdan primers are almost impossible to to find.., besides, i heard from other reloaders that they had some fire off as they were being seated. it is just not worth it to endanger your face/eyes to reload them, to me they are just scrap brass !!

    That works if the primers are not crimped too hard. If they are, an unbalanced hydraulic setup will bulge the brass.

    There have been several devices to do the job but they don't matter much if you can't find the primers. I do not see where Dave Cushman is actually selling Berdan primers, and the sources he gives seldom have any.
