Purchased in 1958 need to Know what and where I can get a firing pin there are two one early one late

  I just bought a marlin 39a and was wondering how old it is. The serial # is J8485. Thank you to all that reply.

  Receiver sight holes I imagine is what your seeing...

  I have owned several of the 39A's over the years and two had receiver sight holes tapped and drilled by the FACTORY.
  
  I have been told these were an after manufactured alteration, but this is not true.

  I have also owned two 39a's over the years and both were drilled and tapped with two holes for a receiver sight. The one I still own (since about 1973) has a Williams 5D receiver sight attached to those two holes.

  Thanks to you who have responded. That does answer my question, so I won't worry about those holes being drilled by someone other than the factory.
