Are you referring to a Model 11 Sportsman? If so they were long out of production in 1985.

no, not a model 11, just a remington sportsman 12 pump magnum...unless this gun has sat in a box for 60+ years, I dont see how it could be a 1937...

Deleted. I posted some bad information. Sorry. I thought the Sportsman as described on the link Bert posted was called a model 11 Sportsman. I have owned two or three of these and never noticed they were not called a model 11 Sportman.

Now I see that the person who posted the original question says it is a Magnum Pump. I do know that the Sportsman (three shot version of the model 11 Remington) was a semi-auto. Maybe it need to withdraw from this thread. I am not helping and am only getting confused.

    zero2blue,

We are trying to help you but your question is akin to asking a question about a Ford Sedan without giving more information. Remington does and has for at least the last 100 years describes their firearms by model numbers. Please provide the model number for your Sportsman.

    Hello Herschel,

In this case, there is no Model "number"... it was simply referred to as the "Sportsman". Check out the weblink I posted.
