    Smith model 327. The "3" refers to the non-conventional frame (in this case scandium alloy) and the "27" to the N-frame .357 based on the old .38/44:

    To answer the question, the picture makes the gun look sort of small, but if you've handled it in person, its actually fairly large. For its size, its pretty light.

    I've picked one up, but never shot it. Still, at slightly more weight than an all-steel 5-shot J frame model 60, I'd expect similar, but slightly less recoil with .357s. That's a good bit of recoil, but not uncontrollable or painful. There were just two recent threads on this.

    I think of this as something like a revolver equivalent of a 1911. You get 8 shots of a fairly powerful round (.357), though the overall package isn't all that small.
