Sorry, about the last post. I never posted what I felt was a fair price for that rifle. As you may know prices are subjective to not only how 'rare' a piece is, but also how much collectors want it. The rarity of these on the market makes it worth more. But, with a bunch of other rifles very much like it except in minor configuration differences makes not worth so much. Balances it out really.
As a rough guess, in the condition I see the rifle in, I would guestimate at around $500~+/-. To a collector looking specifically for that piece it could be worth $1000.
It would be worth more if the rifle hadn't been drilled and tapped. No fault of yours though.

No offense, but I don't see it. Anytime you have a Mauser that has been D & T'd, bolt that has been bent, also with a distressed post W W II paint finish. It's going to be a really hard sell to a collector. To restore it is doable but I doubt any collector would even try unless he could pick it up dirt cheap. 0 -

I may have overshot the top estimate by a bunch. The lower estimate maybe by a hundred. I'm just not seeing the super cheap prices we all used to pick these up at anymore. The finish to me doesn't look too bad considering where the rifle may have been.
Yes, original, whether beat up or not, is the key. And as you noted the D&T and the bent bolt don't help. I missed that one. Kind of dumb for all the looking I did to get the configuration right.
I will certainly have to acquiesce on the upper price value I gave but as noted to a collector who can't find these anymore it may be somewhere close to that ballpark. But, as I noted before too, that is going to take the right buyer. It's not an average collector who would find value in that rifle.
For all intents and purposes it shoots. And, having a couple carbines in 7.65 myself I appreciate the cartridge immensely. I really appreciate the cartridge in long barreled rifles.0 -
Animalsrdelicious/Walldj45......as I mentioned in my previous thread, the bolt is bent and it is from Liege (FN). I read all the threads, perhaps others do not before they respond. I, too, have quite a few of the caliber in both Belgium and Argentine rifles/carbines and respect it quite a bit. And, yes, you don't see many of these rifles around...I guess over the 45+ years I have had maybe three or four so they are rarer than most, although a bunch of them came in the US in the late 1960s. Having said that, no Mauser collector I know would be interested in this particular rifle as it has too much wrong with it but others might be interested for its curiousity value. In my area one would be lucky, in this down market, to get (as I said) $300-400 or so. Good luck! 0
