Marvel .22 conversion

Hi,
Anyone have experience with these 1911 conversions from Marvel? I have a single stack Para. Will these work on it? Any info on dealing with the company? I have tried to call to order and get recording and no call back so far....

Are these the most accurate conversion out there?

    When Bob Marvel first started this company they were a 10 on a scale of 1-10 . Then Bob lost control of his company. Quality when down and the new owners had two model one a target grade and the other a good unit that during testing did not make one inch at 25 yards . Many of these units hit the market and some dealers sold non target grade as target grade others listed both models with different prices. Midway USA sold thousands . Then the new company got greedy and formed a Retail sales division with another name but about the same time they had production problems. . The one thing I never liked was the fact that the aluminum slide prevented the slide stop from acting as it normally does on steel conversion units . A normal magazine would activate the slide stop and batter the aluminum locking notch[V]. This failure to lock the slide back alone would not really hurt anything except the extractor would in time batter the extractor cut in the barrel and lead to barrel chamber problems and also dry firing on an empty chamber if you lost count of how many rounds you loaded would ding SOME barrels and cause chambering problems.Because of warranty for these two problems "ONLY AFTER THOUSANDS OF ROUNDS " the side results was supply problems for new units. This caused problems with the bulls-eye crowd that shoot thousands + thousands of rounds a year and really liked the fact that the Marval was target grade and gave the same trigger feel as the 1911 used for bulls-eye shooting . Bob Marval then went to advantage Arms and helped them improve Their unit with the agreement that Bob would get some of Advantage Arms production . He would make his own barrels for these units and sell them under the Bob Marval custom He has never gotten the supply of units he wanted and his production has about one year wait[:(!][:(] IMHO a much better unit is the Kart Conversion unit it is all steel and the slide does lock back after the last shot.     I have a Ciener that works perfectly. I did not buy it directly from Ciener because he is too obnoxious to deal with. Luckily a friend had the one I use, but if the Kimber works, I go with one of them.

    I bought a Marvel conversion kit after shooting one my buddy had. Mine is quite accurate, under 1 1/2" at 25 yards if I do my part. Mine is generally mounted on a Kimber Gold Match frame as I like the trigger.

    Several thousand rounds without a hitch.

    +1 on Perryshooter comments.

    Had really good luck with several Marvels (before and after Bob left)except for the mags, use the Kimber plastic ones for better results.

    Also, the new Advantage that Marvel modifies are really good, if you can get one. A good friend gunsmith has made up about 10 so far (he had to drive to Bob's to pick up the conversion)with great results.

    Most of the other conversions will not function with a scope or must have hi-vel ammo.

    Thank you for the replies. Perryshooter gave me a lot of very good info via email. He recommends the Kart and I respect his judgment big time.

    I have given up on the Marvel as I can't get a response from the site or the phone. I have placed want ad for Kart....

    My gunsmith has a Marvel and raves about it, half inch groups at fifty yards. He is a serious shooter/competitor.

    Dan, you can normally get a Marvel from stock at Midway. I was just at Camp Perry and Marvel (they have a small shop) indicated that they had a good stock of them.

    Karts are great, but you will pay for it. IMHO they are no more accurate, just that the older shooters (myself included)like them better, and I believe they will last longer.

    Can't go wrong with a Kart, but Marvel should be available from many sources.
