Marlin 39A Gold Trigger

why do some of the Marlin 39A's have blue triggers ands some have gold, even though both say Golden on the barrel?

Also if you have a clue, does this rifle seem to be a hot item lately? there sure alot of them on the auction.

    according to the 23rd edition of the blue book of gun values it states "golden 39A with gold plated trigger, sling swivels, Mfg. 1957-1987". the book makes no mention of gold plated triggers on any model 39a, first, second or third model, with 3 variations on the third model. if the barrel is stamped golden 39A with no gold trigger it may be a fake or else the gold fell off. thats my w.a.g.what do you think?

    I am checking out the 39A's being auctioned off here on GunBroker and not all adds tell you the year or serial# but the pictures show rifles with 39A "Golden" on the barrel but the trigger is blue, so I was just curious. I know that the older models did not have a gold trigger, but they don't say golden on the barrell

    Marlin 39- 1921
    Marlin 39A- 1937 (some references say 1939)
    Marlin 39A Golden- 1957. Gold trigger AND marking. If they disagree, then either barrel or trigger has been replaced. So says Marlin.

    I have a couple of the pre-goldens (they are also pre-micro-groove rifling). IMHO, the best 22 rifle made. My grandkids are still shooting the 39A that Mom bought Dad for their first wedding anniversary. Machined steel, walnut.
