Winchester Ranger 120 Shotgun question
H'lo, I know the Win 120 Ranger was an entry model shotgun similar to the 1300, but I have a few questions regarding the barrel lengths. From my research I have found that there are a few fixed choke versions, and that the 28 inch vent ribbed barrel was the standard barrel for the 120; also, many 120's were sold as combos that came with a smoothbore slug barrel (22") with rifled sights.
I have a ribbed 24" fixed choke with a smooth bore....what version is that (mod. fix. choke, no sights--only two beads)? Someone told me that the 24" barrel was a slug barrel often used for turkey hunting, and only a few where made? Is that correct? Can you shoot steel shot out of this barrel? Any info on this 24" barrel is, as always, much appreciated!

IF THE BARREL DOES NOT HAVE RIFLE SIGHTS, IT IS NOT A SLUG BARREL. IT SOUNDS LIKE A SHORT SHOT BARREL. YOU CAN SHOOT STEEL SHOT LOADS BUT READ THE WARNI9NG ON THE SHOTSHELL BOX. IF YOU SHOOT A LOT OF STEEL SHOT {THE BIGGER THE SIZE SHOT ,THE WORSE IT IS}YOU7 CAN DEVELOPE A BULDGE AT THE BASE OF THE CHOKE. 0 -
So long as it isn't full or greater you should be fine on the steel shot. A 24 in barrel without rifle sight leads me to believe that it was not a slug barrel and the fact it is a modified. Slug barrels are either IC or rifled. 0
