Does anyone have any info on a .32 cal H&R topbreak revolver serial numbe is available. The 1st 3 are 138.

H & R was in business for over 100 years. They probably made hundreds of thousands of .32 revolvers.

there are two seperate models of the H&R Hammerless large frame revolvers. i believe you have a second model. the information below should answer most of your questions about what you have.
H&R HAMMERLESS FIRST MODEL LARGE FRAME TOP BREAK
(BLACK POWDER)

Large Frame Double Action Hammerless Top Break revolver with double top post barrel latch; caliber and cylinder capacity, 38 S&W (5 rounds); finish is nickel or blue (optional); grips are hard rubber with a target logo at the top; standard barrel length is 3 ? inch, with 4, 5 and 6 inch optional; rebounding hammer; automatic cylinder stop. There are no known variations in this model. top of barrel is marked with the same 5 patent dates as the Auto-Ejector Second model 5th Variation, no caliber markings on left side of barrel.

The cylinder was lengthen to take the 32 S&W long cartridge and the catalogs now listed. the calibers are; 6 shot 32 S&W, 32 S&W Long, 32 Colt New Police cartridges. Also offered in 5 shot 38 S&W and 38 Colt New Police. Caliber marked on left side of barrel THIS MODEL WAS DESIGNED FOR SMOKELESS POWDER CARTRIDGE PRESSURES

There is some indication production of the hammerless model stopped somewhere in the early 1920's but it was carried in catalogs until 1941 Estimate*

From the picture this appears to be a five shot???? If so it is the small frame hammerless model and Bill's info for the large frame, does not necessarily apply to the small frame. Please clarify cartridge capacity. Regardless of model, I wouldn't shoot anything other than .32 S&W cartridges through it (i.e. not the .32 S&W LONG). I have a "few" of these in my collection and have fired a couple, just to feel the gun - I wouldn't consider using LONGS in any of mine, NOT even the ones in excellent condition.
.32 S&W Ammo is relatively easy to find, but is costly because not many rounds are made. I've used Winchester Super X and Magtech (Brazilian) - both of which run a bit over 20 bucks per box of 50. Do an online search, you'll find several outlets selling this ammo.

The cartridge capacity is 6. I ordered a box of .32 S&W on line...$ 47.00 for a box of 50!!...and a 4 to 6 week wait to boot!
