Whole lot of jammin goin on here

Ruger MK III Hunter, bought new about 6 months ago. Have put about 3,000 plus rounds through it. The most beautiful and nicest shooting gun that I've seen or shot. However, I can't put a 10 round clip thru it with out it jamming at least once or twice. I have cleaned and oiled it, have tried all the different ammunition manufactures to no avail. I would love to get this problem fixed as I really love this gun. Any one having a similar problem or any suggestions on how to fix this?

    It should be pretty broken in after 3K rounds. But I would two suggestions.
    1st I'd try oiling the slide w/Rem-oil w/Teflon.
    2nd I'd try shooting hotter .22 ammo such as CCI Mini Mags or Stingers.

    Lot of folks are having problems with the MK III's loaded chamber indicator on the left side of the barrel extension.

    This link has a lot of good info on what guys are doing to fix it.

    please explain how it is jamming. the position if the round, condition of the round when removed etc. has this problem been consistent since new ? when in the 3,000 rounds put through it did it start? It could be a number of causes, I think we need more info to better answer

    IF the gun is perfectly clean and lubricated , a common cause of smoke stack jams is under powered ammo, or, limp wristing. as mentioned above cci mini mags work in just about anything, they may help. try paying close attention to having a strong grip on each shot next time out and see if there is any difference , it might also be a problem with the extractor. good luck maybe someone else can be of more assistance .

    It's a stove pipe jam. The spent round is not clearing before the new round is chambered catching the spent round between the new round and the top of the chamber. It has done it since day one. I probably should have sent it back to Ruger and had them take a look at it, but I'm the type of guy that thinks he can fix anything. I think I could fix it if I knew what to fix.

    Great link sir. The problem seems to be with the magazine. I never would have thought that the magazine would be the problem ejecting fired rounds. There apears to be a simple fix in altering the magazine and I will try that tonight. Everyone at this site who has tried the fix, says that it totally solved the problem.

    Basically it is a problem with something slowing down the momentum of the slide...at least part of the time. It could be low powered ammo, limp wristing, or a host of other things, but it is the loaded chambeer indicator binding, and causing the slide to slow down, in this case.

    Great link and the info there solved my problem. The problem is the magazine. Who would have thought that the magazine would cause problems ejecting the cartrage. A minor adjustment to the magazine and I put 100 rounds thru it and not a single jamb. Before the adjustment I couldn't shoot a ten round clip without a couple jambs; very frustrating. Now I am able to shoot a great gun without any jambs. To you all: thank you for you help and input.

    UPDATE:
    After making the changes to the clip as suggested by the guys in this forum, I have put over 1,500 round thru my Ruger without one jamb. Who would have thought that such a minor change would have made such a great difference. Kudos to all of you in the forum. Thanks a bunch.

    Them Ruger MK I, II, & III's are so fun and accurate for the price! Now you can really enjoy that thing.
