Can anyone tell me what a 1980 Colt MK IV/ Series 70/ Pachmayr special combat is worth these days?

    Condition is everything. Please put yourself in our Place .sort of like asking "I have a 1980 3 bedroom brick house what is it worth" I know it is fairly hard to down load pictures here but if you go to one of the top post on this forum you will see STICKY on how to post pictures. Without more information $400.00 in well used condition to-$800.00 + in the box never shot. [:(] sorry that is the best guess I can make.

    A full custom Pachmayr Combat Special is worth a lot more money than that. The last I heard of to change hands was $2600.

    Now if you mean a regular Colt with Pachmayr grips, go with P.S.

    It is a full custom Pachmayr special combat and I will bring it home tomorrow so I can post some pics. I would be the second owner and its had no more than 50 rounds put through it since it was built in 1980. I dont have the box or papers. I did however verify the serial with colt. It has two light scratches but otherwise perfect. brought it to the range guys at my work and they said its one of the guns that brought custom 1911's to light. I will get those photos and thanks for the reply.

    back in the 70's the conversion from packmayr cost over $800 and you supplied the basic gun. oh, there was up to a 5yr wait for one.
    todays equivalent is built on a custom built frame and slide (not colt) and runs about $4500, last i checked.

    Here is the 1980 Pachmayr special combat.This is the only way I could find to post a pic with it being too small or big. It does have the scratches at the front of the slide. Oh and the pistol is not forsale. can anyone tell me why the gun is rubbing only at that spot causing the scratches?

    It shows there is still enough play or misalignment between slide and frame for that spot to rub inside the dustcover in recoil. Not desirable but not uncommon even on new guns.
    A fine specimen worth a good deal of money as above.

    Next question: Can the adjustable sight be replaced with a fixed one for better use as a duty gun?

    John Harrison makes a fixed sight to fit the Bomar cut:

    I guess it would be sturdier if you plan to knock it around, but it is not going to protrude any less than the existing well rounded Bomar.
