Adjusting rear sight, Hi Standard HD Military

    There are two screws that have to be backed off to adjust the rear sight. One is at the back if the slide the other comes up from the bottom. Great care should be taken, as their small and can easily be stripped, specially if they haven't been loosened in many years,( the HD Military was last manufactured in the late 40's).

    If their frozen don't try to force them, use Liquid Wrench or Krol to try to get them loose.

    Years ago I had a Model A that was made in the early 40's. The rear sight was so buggered up by some bubba trying to adjust it with a punch without loosening up the screws, I wound up just removing it and altering a Standard Model Ruger sight to fit the HS dovetail. At this late date there are no original replacement rear sights available, if the original adjustable rear sight is buggered up.

    Another option is to try different ammo. I have a handgun that will shoot different point of aim depending on ammo.
