There is no form, as nonlicensees are not required to give any information. You pack your long arm properly & securely, you go to the PO & honestly answer the "4 questions", & tell the clerk how you want to ship your package.

It goes without saying that you are mailing it to a licensee or to yourself.

If still in doubt, see USPS Pub 321.

There is no special form to mail a long gun. Just ship it like any other package. If it is a modern long gun being shipped interstate, it must go to an FFL dealer (or C&R licensee if eligible) unless you are shipping it to yourself.

Only an FFL dealer can ship a handgun and must file Form 1508 with the Postmaster.

Ship it by Priority Mail, if you use the USPS. For the little extra money it costs it's worth it.

The Post office buries their publications.[:(!] I found what you were talking about:

You SHOULD declare to the Post Office that the package contains a firearm. They DO have the right to require you to show that it is unloaded. But as the guys have said, the form is for when a DEALER mails a handgun.

Correct, but do not mark on the package anything about it containing a firearm.
