SA trigger pull
I'm new to autos and was wondering if and how difficult it would be to lighten the trigger pull of a sig p238? 8lb. seems a little on the heavy side and I know the manuf. reasoning behind it, but I know that heavy trigger will affect my accuracy.

BUY a 1911 you can put a sweet trigger pull on those with over-travel adjustable also. "PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN" 0 -
I doubt a competent gunsmith would have trouble improving the trigger pull on a Sig 238 (which itself is a clone of the older Colt Mustang) but I surely wouldn't try it myself.
Tinkering with sears and such is potentially dangerous, as it could render the gun drop-unsafe (bad) or even make the gun inadvertently go full-auto (REAL bad!).
For what its worth, I believe military spec on 1911s (when they were issue guns) was 6 lbs.
On a pocket carry gun like a SIG 238, I don't know why you would want to go lighter than that. The heavy trigger pull acts as a secondary safety to help prevent "startle" discharge and to help mitigate (at least a little bit) against poor gun handling practice.
More to the point, accuracy is largely irrelevant here. Are you entering your 238 into a bullseye competition? Hunting squirrels with it?
If you can consistently hit a paper plate from 20 feet away with your gun, its probably accurate enough for what you need to do with it.0 -

if you are referring to the 238's "gritty & heavy" trigger it does smooth itself out after several hundred rounds, it does then feel lighter, although over trigger pull weight is almost the same. I know this because a neighbor of mine has one ,I shot it new out of the box, it was terrible , after 6 months and 500 rounds of new and reloaded ammo it is now a pleasure to shoot.and it is imho very accurate for a "belly pistol" 4" groups at 10 yds. 0
