7.62x39
I would like to learn more about this round. It seems to be a very inexpensive centerfire catridge and easy on the pocketbook for plinking. I can't think of any cheaper. What kind of range would it have coming out of an AR Style gun? How would it do on Texas hogs and varmits? Thanks

I am looking for cheap 7.62x39 ammo. I tried J and G Sales but they want $117 after shipping. Is there a place where I can get a better deal or do I just have to wait until the next gun show?

It works fine. In fact its the most accurate ammo I have found for one of my Mini 30. It will shoot 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with iron sights. 0 -

How well do the steel case ammo work in the Rugar mini 30
any feed back will be helpful.
There are multiple threads on this topic already if you do a search (including one recently in the past week).
The answer is, it depends on the exact gun, and the exact type of ammo.
*SOME* of the Mini-30s will shoot *SOME* of the steel cased ammo consistently.
But many of the Mini-30s won't reliably detonate the harder military-type primers of Russian steel case ammo (like Wolf or the "Bears"). Supposedly the newer Wolf has slightly softer primers. . .that might help.
Also, *IF* your gun has this problem, its possible to fix it by installing a stronger hammer spring.0
