FFL transfer fees

I realize fees range...but if you do a multiple transfer for example

3 stripped lowers

Do they go on the same forms or do you have to do additional forms for each lower?

Do you normally charge per unit or the same for the entire transaction?



Thank You, it was a question for FFLs. I am aware I can contact a local FFL, I was curious about those that frequent this forum on their practices....

    It depends on the dealer and the nature of the transaction. Check with your local FFL.

    There is space in Section D, Line 26 on each Form 4473 to handle the transfer of up to 5 different firearms. Whether or not the dealer chooses to use all of those spaces or use a separate 4473 for each firearm is up to him. Some dealers prefer one form per serial number, no matter how many firearms are involved in the transaction, to make tracking easier. Others dealers like the idea of saving space by using only the single form for multiple transfers. I'd charge you a fee based on the number of serial numbers we were transferring but some guys might just give you a flat rate for three identical units...It is the dealer's call.

    Like it has been previously posted, it is the dealer's call. If you are, or have been buying a lot of firearms that are out of state transfers, or non-FTF, then using a small dealer who is friendly has an advantage. Usually, there is a per item fee, like my FFL is 25.00 for long guns and 50.00 per handgun(lot of BS here in NY). However if I have like 8 guns at once he will do like take off 50%, as they were all handguns. We done 8 seperate 4473's, and spread out the time frame over 2 weeks. A big box store that will take on transfers are rare, but the bigger gunshops will charge per, and hold their price with no break, if it were 20 guns or 1 gun.

    I previously had a FFL for 20 years, and would give price breaks on multiple guns, and most of the time did not charge at all.

    I charge $25 for any gun TSR and Im in NYS ..Where are you located ?

    I charge 25 dollars per item, unless it's NFA stuff that I have to sit on until the forms come back, then it's 50 bucks. I haven't changed my prices in over 8 years.

    It amazes me how cheap gun people can be and at the same time pay "retail plus" for whatever trendy POS gun is "shiny and new".

    Simultaneously, complaining constantly about how there are fewer stores, fewer small dealers, and less selection.

    Proprietors of gun businesses are apparently not allowed to make more than 2% on anything.

    I charge $10.00, including tax, for each firearm transferred through my business. I will put up to 5 on each 4473 form. I am located in a small town and nearly all buyers having a firearm shipped through my business have to drive 20 to 40 miles to pick up the firearm or I would be able to charge more.

    Sodus....5 miles south of Lake Ontario, half way between rochester and Syracuse.

    Found one a little further away that will do 3 long guns for $25 total, NICS fee included

    I don't begrudge an FFL from making a living, so the FFL shouldn't begrudge the customer for looking for the best deal...

    I am gonna end up with some Spikes lowers(AIM surplus) for $87.50 total(lower, FFL & S-H) out the door, which isn't bad, better than what a local gunshop would charge...they want a $120 a piece

    You are getting stripped lowers for $29 a pop?!?!?!
    Or $87.50 each?
