east german makarov
I have what I'm told is an East German Makarov. It's a semi-auto pistol. Glossy black with plastic grips, fixed sights and the following markings: BX 3252, a "Y"ciclrled with dots, K100 inside a box, 62 on the frame, and on the front strap ERNST THAELMANN MOD. M 9mm SACCA GERMANY.
Does anyone know how to take the firing pin out and where to find a replacement? it appears this on e is broken.
Thanks,
Ed

interested in ernst thaelmann makarov have c&r license seller says it's not eligible because it's got a DA mark which means it was made in 1963 my brown book says east german makarovs are ok does anybody know who is right ? 0 -
You are right in that all EG Makarovs are C&R eligible. If this all revolves around the seller refusing to ship the pistol to you on your C&R FFL (99% of the time no one wants a C&R ruling simply for reference purposes) you cannot use that information to force the seller to ship to you if he doesn't feel like it. 0 -
thank you for the info will contact the seller and see if he will change his mind 0 -
If by "brown book" you mean ATF P5300.11, page 25, that is THE official authority. Just ask him to look it up:
"Makarov, pistol, Russian and East German, caliber 9mm Makarov."
OTOH, your C&R may not be valid to receive a handgun in certain localities. Federal law takes precedence over local firearms laws.

EDIT: PA has no restrictions on a C&R. But, like Mark says, you can't make him ship to you with a C&R. It's happened to me, & I just tell the seller "...then, I'm not interested in it." I just take it as a sign that this is a seller I shouldn't get involved with.0 -
