How do I remove floor plate on 45 ACP mag?

I need to replace a spring on a Chip McCormick 8 rd. mag. I assume the floor plate comes off and new spring is inserted thru bottom?
Is this correct? How do I get the floor plate off.

    If your floor plate is removable it is most likely 2 Pieces. Look and see if right in the middle is a hole with another piece of metal like a small button inside the hole. If so then press down on this button and slide the base plate forward and off then remove the other pieces of base plate Spring and follower. If the base plate is not removable Like older G.I. magazines or ones with bumper pad base plate then Take a PENCIL and push follower down from top all the way then take a small pin and push through one of the Lower holes in the side all the way from one side out the other side. This will free the follower and allow you to remove follower . Now pull the pin and this will free up the spring Now install new spring and hold it down with pencil to install pen ad then reinstall follower. Now after doing this I will tell you IMHO it is a waste of time and money to replace this spring >I have 3 Magazines for my primary match pistol . One has stayed loaded as a spare for 25 years and the other 2 have each had over 100,000 EACH rounds loaded in them and shot from them Only cheap poor quality springs get weak . Chip McCormick makes quality products.

    Thanks Perry Shooter, after I posted I went to bench and figured it out. THe Chip McCormick mags are the later type, looks like floor plate is spot weld. I depressed follower with dowel held spring thru side hole with nail and pulled out follower.

    reason for all this is: I have half dozen Chip McCormick 8 rd mads. One of them ( the one I am working on) ALWAYS misfeds on last round. Does not matter if I load 8rds, 6rds or 5 rds....last round always misfeeds. the misfed round is out of mag and perpedicular to barrel infeed. I release tention on slide , press mag relaese, mag falls out and round drops thru out.

    CMC tech thinks it is " bad spring" they have sent a replacement.
    Long story but that is why I am replacing spring.

    If problem not resolved, return to the seven round magazines. Joe

    If i remember right you can depress and rock the follower back to get it to come out the top of the magazine. I seem to recall this but do not remember for sure but try it anyway.

    Thanks for advise. problem fixed. the follower was not seated in the spring. the "chip mccormick shooting star " follower has a small indent which should catch around spring wire. It had either slipped off or never was in place. all is OK now.
