1911 22LR What to buy?

I am looking to buy a 1911 22LR pistol.
I am looking at the Chiappa 1911-22 target and the American Tactical GSG M1911. Which one should I get? Looking at quality and dependability. So many options.

    Get the GSG, the Chiappa is garbage.

    NEITHER Buy a 45cal COLT series 70 if possible and a Marvel conversion unit or if you can find a Kart conversion unit so much the better. Second choice a SERVICE MODEL ACE from the late 1970's The service model ace has floating chamber and will not be as accurate as the Marvel or Kart but is good training because it recoils more like a 45 but MUCH CHEAPER TO SHOOT. My choices are not made of ZINC alloy.[:(][V]IMHO ZINC alloy is good for 500 rounds. not a gun you want to shoot a lot. YMMV.

    Yep....get a Marvel conversion. I have one on a Kimber Gold Match frame. Hard to beat. Accurate and reliable.

    Are you positive the GSG is zinc alloy? I have heard they are steel and are of very good quality!

    Update on the GSG 1911.

    I just gave American Tactical Imports a call and got an update on their GSG 1911. They have not released their pistol anywhere else in the world yet, which means we'll be getting some of the first ones, stateside. Their planned release date is late November/early December of this year, the pistol will be coming with 1 magazine and a 2 yr warranty. They've designed it to be fully interchangeable with other 1911 parts, specifically grips, safeties, back straps and magazines. The specs are as follows:

    Kimber dedicated .22 or as PS suggested a conversion kit.

    In order for an all steel slide to function in 22LR, it would have to be extremely skeletonized, or relieved of a lot of internal mass.

    I have had great luck with the Ciener 1911 conversions too. Had one for my Para Ordnance Limited 14/45 stainless. It was a little stick for the first couple hundred rounds, then was flawless, and accurate. I let it go with the Para, when I started acquiring Wilson's.

    If using for target then Marvel, Kart, or Advance. These all shoot any type ammo, can use a scope, and are accurate.

    For plinking, Kimber, Ciener, etc. Most require Hi Vel ammo and cannot take a scope without mounting to the frame.

    Best mag's I've found for any was the plastic Kimber.

    Hello Just got a GSG model 1911 in 22 RIM FIRE . It is a better design IMHO then the brand that starts with a C . But it does NOT have a steel frame or slide . See my post on the Competitions and reloading Forum .
