Kimber Pro Carry II
I was looking at getting a Kimber .45ACP in the Pro Carry II model. I was told by a gun smith that Kimbers have a habit of jamming and that the mechanial workings of the pistol have some problems as well. This is the first I have heard of any of these problems. Any advice would be apprceiated.

When Kimber first came out with their Clone 1911. They were Great but then $$$ went to there head and they started modifying design and who supplied their parts. The Kimber with the external extractor was IMHO a big mistake along with Asian Barrels. I have been told that the guns made in the last few years have turned the corner and are again making high quality pistols. 0 -
I have two Kimber Pro Carry's, and I have never had a problem with either one of them. They are light enough to pack around, potent enough to stop any threat and accurate enough for target shooting at 25 yards! 0 -
I had a Kimber Pro Carry SLE and it was a great shooter. I never had issues with it, however it was an older one. About 3 years ago I had a Gunshop Owner tell me that he had several new Kimbers come back from customers with extraction issues. He too indicated it seemed ot be related to the change to external extractors.
I still have a pre-external extractor Custom Target II and it is a fabulous shooter

During the run up in gun sales I think Kimber had some quality control issues. I recently purchased a used Tactical Pro II and have been very happy with it. I have put about 300 rounds through it with no problems and I am really impressed with the accuracy of it. My search criteria was to find one that was more than 2 years old or just received from the factory. I felt this would provide the best chance for a smooth running gun. For those that did have issues I understand Kimber would fix whatever problem with no questions asked. I just wanted to reduce the chance that I would have to send it back to be tweaked. 0 -
I carry a Pro carry II on duty and the only problem I have ever had was due to magazine failure. Now I carry Wilson Combat and it works 100% of the time. Nothing wrong with the Kimber! 0 -

The first thing I do with any new Kimber is take the factory magazine and throw it in the junk box. All of my Kimbers have Wilson mags.0
