There isn't really a good SKS dust cover scope mount for the SKS. The dust cover was never designed to secure a scope or anything else to an SKS. If you just have to have a scope attached to an SKS, or something else attached to your SKS, drill and tapping the receiver is about all you can do but then you destroy any collector value. 0 -
quickmajic; I just now had a drawing to the count of three. 1-2-3- you won, a cover with a rail. The rail is mounted on high intergal mounts.
You might have to build up the front sides where it fits to the receiver as it has been fitted to one rifle already. If you want it send me your addy and one of these days when I go to town (live 30 miles in country) I will send it you.[}:)]0 -

As mentioned, unfortunately, none of these are really all that good.
I agree entirely with 5mmgunguy here. The SKS action (dust) cover was simply not designed to serve as a solid anchor point for a scope or anything else, and consequently most of the dust cover-type scope mounts won't hold a zero very well. With these its pretty typical to get a wandering zero during use, and to get a totally different zero if you take the thing off to clean the gun and replace it. This is even true of the oversized ones you are supposed to file down to get a tight fit.
Edit: Other downsides of dust cover scope mounts are:
a. A typical-length scope over the receiver can prevent you from being able to use stripper clips. Its a big loss, IMO.
b. Ejected brass can bounce off the scope, though you can also put in a brass deflector to address this, if you like.
c. The screws and nuts on the set-screw mounted UTG scope mount are sort of jagged, and (as I have just learned the hard way) can scratch the heck out of the base of your right hand when charging the gun.
I'm talking about this one in particular:
Gas tube scope mounts have their own issues too.
If you must scope your SKS, I think the consensus is that the best way to do it is with a side-mount scope drilled and tapped into the receiver. Choate makes what is probably the best one, but there are others that could work.
Second best way is probably a "scout" type mount that replaces the rear sight. Personally, if I went this route, I'd go with a red-dot sight up front, rather than a magnified optical sight.
Third best (or arguably best of all!) is probably to forget the scope altogether, and instead put in a rear peep/aperture sight (maybe with combination fiber optic front sight). If you consider that an SKS is really only a 100 yard gun, this is a pretty good solution.

I didnt know anyone made a dove tail mount with weaver/pic rail for the SKS..
I have tapped rifles before for mounting regular com block mounts with good outcomes.. I checked the past threads on the subject, and didnt see anything that exactly fits my needs..
