1911 Gunsmith contact:?
I've got a S.Stl. 1911 frame, I just picked up a gold cup trigger. The trigger is too wide to fit in the original trigger slot. I've asked afew gunsmiths I know, but no one seems to do this type of work. Anybody know a real "gunsmith" that does?

Hello First off I don't own any S.Stl frames . I dont know if this is a frame for single stack or double stack Magazines . If your trigger is for one and the frame for the other then you are SOL. Now lets look at most frames Colt Springfield ETC the trigger on these are all the same width EXCEPT the colt Gold Cup and this has a WIDER TRIGGER IMHO this trigger would be Very hard to fit in a normal frame if you try to modify the trigger it may not be able to support the trigger BOW and to modify a standard frame to take a gold cup trigger you would need the same equipment that is used to Machine a frame . I don't think one in 10,000 Gun smiths would have this equipment I would contact Brownell's and ask for the tech department to see if they sell a gold-cup type trigger that would fit your frame. Or contact Cylinder & Slide they would be able to help if anyone can. 0 -
A gold cup trigger is not going to fit in your stainless frame. You need to get a trigger for a standard 1911 frame.
The cost to widen the frame slot would cost more than a new frame.0 -

King's used to offer to mill the frame to fit a GC Trigger. The charge, years ago, was $110.00 + the trigger.0
