Browning Sweet 16
Considering buying extremely clean A-5. Near perfect stocks no cracks and no modifications from original. 28"(?)bbl with cross-hatched sight plane (no rib), modified choke, extremely fine blue and shiny bright inside. Gold(?) trigger has a little spotting. Has little (3"X5")instruction booklet. Comes with several boxes of Federal Monarch paper shells of varying shot and old Outers cleaning kit. Seller asking $750.00 but I would appreciate your thoughts as to value. I'm unable to determine year of manufacture at the Browning website...s/n is S14671. Thanks. Best, Jim (timbroman@aol.com)

Trying to get an idea as to what a Belgium Browning Sweet 16, Serial# X44470, might be worth. I believe it was made in 1951, plain barrel and in very good to excellent condition. I have a chance to buy it and neither the seller or I really know what the value is. Thanks. 0 -
After checking some completed auctions "lately", it looks like she got good money for it..Box makes it worth a couple hundred more, which she did not have. imo.. 0 -
In no way was that Belgian Sweet 16 worth $2150.00. I sold a first year vent rib, in 98 % for $1100.00 3 years ago. A NIB Belgian would go for a max of $1500.00, and a Jap for 1k.

I'm just quoting blue book. I am not a Browning guy or an A-5 guy. That is why I was inquiring what the current trend might be for them. Blue book #30 lists a vent rib gun Belgian at 2100 for 100% and 1650 for 98%. A jap gun 1295 at 100% and 1075 for 98%. Sounds like she did OK for the market. 0 -
Blue book can be off by as much as 50% It all depends on if the person that sets the price is a collector of that brand and is in love with them or living in the real world of tight money from most available buyers. IMHO Blue Book is a joke. if you look at completed items on gunbroker that SOLD this will give a more accurate price. We have one member on this forum that is a contributor to Blue Book Prices His prices on the brand he is very knowledgeable is very accurate I wish all prices were this way but they are not. 0
