what is the pitch of this bolt?

It looks like 28 TPI(I count 7 threads in a quarter inch) Is it 7/16 diameter? If so it I'm guessing it's a 7/16-28

If it is not a metric bolt, my guess would be 1/4 - 28 or 5/16 - 24, both UNRF (fine thread) pitches.
Best option is to take it to the bolt bin at your local hardware store and find the nut that fits.0 -

See how easy this would be to walk out to the toolbox and get the thread gauge?
Better yet if you don't have one, take it with you when you go to get what-ever nut it needs. BTW, when you're there, pick up a thread gauge, they're about $4-$5 maybe. A good tap and die set is only about $25.0 -
