SAVAGE MARK -II
I bought a Savage 22 lr Mark II. I like it, it works fine, except it will not extract an unfired round. Is this normal or do I need to have it fixed?

friend had one doing that and had it repaired. will try to get more info for you. 0 -
check the bolt face for rough spots, should be as smooth as a baby's butt. 0 -
Has it been dry fired alot?? There could be peening around the chamber from the firing pin striking the metal. This would cause difficult extraction. Did you buy it new or used? 0 -
I do not dry fire a rim fire gun. Bought it slightly used. I will check and clean the chamber again. The action is smooth.
Looking at the extractor grip points, I don't see how it could fail to extract.
But, today it extracted. The round almost fell out. This is a mystery to me.0 -
What brand ammo? I've not had the issue in my Mk II since I'm avoiding winchester ammo, but in my 93 in 22 mag Winchester ammo (dynapoints and the silver box stuff) have extraction and ejection issues. 0 -

Didn't mean to imply you were the culprit, if it was a used rifle, the previous owner could have dry fired the weapon.[;)]0 -
CS8161, no problem.
I have been using Aquila hi-vol. I will try other ammo too.0 -

I have had LOTS of sticking problems in my Marlin bolt action 22 using the high velocity Aquila ammo. I have even had the spent case split in half, with the rim being extracted and the top part of the spent case lodged in the chamber. Its a bear to remove that small piece of brass! I won't use the Aquila ammo anymore.0 -
CS8161, thanks for the info. I like the Aquila because it seems to drop less at 100 yards. However it is not as acccurate as others.
I will stop using it. This is why I like GB forums.0 -
Clean it to death and change the ammo !! 0
