Remington Rifle ?

[:)]I cannot find any info on the following gun. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [:)]
The barrel is 24 inches and the breech is octagon shaped and the rest of the barrel is round. It breaks down with a lever on the left side for loading. It is not a rolling block. The hammer is for a center fire. Looks to be about 45 to 50 caliber. The only marking I see is UMC on the metal butt plate. Hard to tell but I think is is smooth bore. I do beleive it is a damascus barrel. I see no markings anywhere else. It has a sraight stock and the forearm is plain with no bands. Like a shotgun forearm. Has a bead front sight and it is grooved along the top of the breech. Never had a sight on the breech.
Have looked through all my books and cannot find it.

I will try to get some pics but it is nothing like this. Have looked at all the Remingtons and descriptions. The stock is straight. Has a lever on the left side just above the trigger to tip the barrel up. I thought it may be a 1 1/2 but it is not a rollong block. The barrel tips up, you load the shell and close it up just like a single barrel shotgun.

According to Flayderman's Guide, Remington made a side cocking, outside hammer, single barrel shotgun for a short time during the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. They were known as the Models 1893 & 9.

Yes sir,
I know about them. This is not a shotgun but it may have been for shot shells. I'll try to get some pics posted. The gun is not here or I would have them posted. The bore is rough from the black powder.

Might it be Something Else with a UMC buttplate as a replacement?

The barrel is octagonal in front of the receiver and it does not have a sight, just a groove that you sight down at the bead sight.

It doesn't look like any Remington I've ever seen but maybe these larger pics will help.
