Auction site has them going for about $500-700.

IMO, the plain-jane (and far cheaper) Mossberg 500 shotgun is probably more practical, but I suppose these have a certain appeal to mall ninjas and to a lesser extent, collectors.

Edit: Exact value, of course, is going to depend on condition, acessories (if any) and whether or not it still has the original box and paperwork with it. These aren't totally scarce, but they were only made for a short period of time and they're desirable. A like-new gun with original box and paperwork would probably have some collectors value.

Functionally speaking, at about 10lbs (compared to 7.5 for an ordinary Mossberg 500), they're also sort of heavy. I suppose the weight cuts down on recoil.

Apart from the intimidating appearance, the biggest (and probably only) real functional advantage to this gun is that you get a full 18" barrel length in a gun that has a minimum legal 26" overall length improving handling a little bit especially in tight quarters.

Again, ordinary Mossberg with an 18" barrel is about 39", a full foot longer, though you could get down to maybe 28-29" with an aftermarket folding stock.
