Well the great thing about the Remington family, would be that they now encompass many manufactures. H&R, Marlin, Bushmaster, DPMS, and of course Remington.
DPMS makes the R-25 for Remington, and it is a very robust, and accurate rifle. The R-25 is actually a tad better than the standard DPMS LR-308, as it comes with the A3 reciever, which includes shell deflector, forward assist, and dust cover. The standard DPMS used to include that but does not anymore. The Remington does.
Bottom Line...Great gun, and great value...just wish Remington would have one in black.

I've shot my buddy's and I am very jealous. There isn't anything about it I can think of that isn't positive. I've been looking and looking at several platforms. Colt is, of course, the favorite, but I really love that R25. You should be very pleased. 0 -
I have shot the DPMS and they are nice rifles. The three that I have shot have been accurate. Have a new Magpul mag made for them, very nice.
Only possible negative, a little heavy.0 -
I think it is a fine rifle, based on my experiance with DPMS rifles of pretty much the same design..
and as Skyfish says, the R-25 is alittle heavy.. this could be reduced by adding a ACE light weight stock and a Carbon fiber handguard tube, If you wish to invest alittle extra money to customize the rifle.
but weight distribution is good for off hand as is..[:)]

I myself was compareing it to a light weight short action hunting rifle, AR-15 carbine, or 30-30 lever gun..0 -
For those that say it is heavy what are you comparing it to? It is the lightest rifle in that style and is very well balanced.
Weight;
R-25 7.75lbs
FAL 8.5-13lbs
M1A 9-11lbs
G3 9-12
It is also one of the shorter OAL rifles, but some of these use 22" barrels vs 20".
OAL;
R-25 38 1/4"
FAL 41"+
M1A 44.33"
G3 40"0
