Win Mod. 12 Help

I have a Win Mod 12, S/N 798294, field grade, orig. finish.
The bluing on the top and top sides of the receiver are discolored in places (blotches). Is this normal?
Sorry no pictures.
DOB late 30's?
28" barrel, full choke.

  Sounds like normal handling wear, they turn a plum color after the bluing is gone and it begins to oxidize. Just keep a thin coat of oil on it and shoot it. Post some photos if you want it diagnosed.
