    Raven Arms, Phoenix Arms, Bryco Arms and Jennings Firearms were different company names for firearms of basically the same design which were produced by members of a single family.

    After they were put out of business due to product liability lawsuits their equipment was purchased by one of their former employees ([;)]) and Jimenez Firearms was born.

    They all suck equally.

    Hold-on guys. These pistols do have value. If ever confronted with a gun battle, offer these to your opponents! Your family will be eternally grateful.

    Good friend at work has one in 22lr. After removing the paint from the feed ramp it won't stop working. Close to a thousand rounds and hasn't blown up. Don't own one myself.

    They're relatively inexpensive guns made with elementary design out of low quality metals. Consequently, they have earned a poor reputation for reliability, quality control, and accuracy.

    Broken firing pins and broken slides are not uncommon with these guns.

    Also, (and this is big) in general, they are NOT drop-safe. The instruction manual advises that they not be carried with a loaded round in the chamber.

    In short, when people talk about "junk guns" or (to use a term preferred by gun-haters) "Saturday night specials" they're talking about guns like this.

    Will they shoot? Yes.

    Would I trust my life to one or recommend one to a friend or family member? No.

    Given the number of high quality used, surplus or trade-in type guns available for under $250, I find it very hard to justify paying $100 for a gun likely to self-destruct at a critical point in time.

    It is worth noting that while Jimenez is simply Bryco with a new name the Jimenez company will not honor any Bryco warranty claims or handle repairs to the earlier pistols. This is a situation very much like Hesse which turned into Vulcan and then found it easy to dispense with all warranty claims from their previous products.
