    Be aware the wood may have been stained and this is just a surface finish that may leave a MUCH liter finish on the part you sand [:(] also do not get near the checkering.Unless you know how to touch this up a sanding here will really hurt the value.

    While you can probably significantly improve the break line by careful light sanding, unless you know EXACTLY how to replicate the finish (eg you put it on yourself), there is a fair likelihood that the gun will end up looking worse than when you started.

    Personally, I wouldn't.
