Enfield Markings Help?
I just picked up an Australian made Enfield NO.1 MKIII* SMLE Produced at Lithgow in Australia circa 1942.
Upon disassembling the hand-guards for a good cleaning, I ran across
a whole bunch of different markings, in different places. I have the entire run of numbers 1-10 stamped in a row on the receiver. Above each number is what I found out is a seven-pointed star, taken from the Australian flag.
There are many more marks, more than I care to try to describe.
I don't have any pics.
Can anyone point me to a link identifying Enfield markings?
I would really appreciate any help.
Thank you
