For what you paid for that 238, I certainly would not skimp on the price of an extra mag.

If you think that the cost of factory mags is high while a gun is still in production, wait until the gun has become obsolete.

I think the Colt Mustang mags will probably work, though they're probably not going to be all that much cheaper, if you go for original Colt branded mags.

Aftermarket 6-round Promag mustang mags can be had for around $20 each. I can't comment on how reliable these are. Some of the Promags I've used (in other guns) won't reliably lock back the slides.

Real Colt factory mags are probably going to run $30-45 or so, depending on finish and capacity.

Search around for Mec-Gar magazines for your pistol. You'll save some cash without sacrificing quality or reliability.

Same as several other major firearms manufacturers, SIG contracts out their magazine production to Mec-Gar. In other words, you shouldn't view these as an 'aftermarket item'.

A SIG factory-issue magazine is just a Mec-Gar with their markings.

i've run the mustang mags thru the sig w/o any problems. the pocketlite mags with the finger extension are especially nice in the sig.
