Can Any One Identify this Old Colt????
I need to know the model number, roughly years it was made and approx. value. I know the value is worth in what condition it is in. It needs a trigger spring and the barrel could use a good cleaning.
Barrel is marked Colt Firearms Man. Co.
Hartford, Ct. USA
Before and after the lettering there is a German type iron cross on the barrel.
Is a 7 shot .22 short. Gun is about 6 inches long with a 2-1/2 - 3 inch barrel. Barrel has a pivot on the front that you can turn to remove it.

A friend of mine picked it up at an estate sale and said he paid $200 for it. He said he wanted to get a letter from Colt as to it's history but they needed to know what model it was before they could do anything.

Its an Old Line Open Top Pocket Model. To be honest the letter would be more expensive than the gun. I got several of these little pistols, they are very cool but not very expensive. I can make you a trigger spring if you can't find one. 0 -

I agree! If they have the Records for this Model, the Colt Letter will cost $200 to $250 and might add maybe 15% to the value. Not a good idea! You can usually check online to see what Models they can possibly give Colt Letters on. However, that does not mean that they still have the Records for that specific Revolver.

Sorry, it has been awhile since I last visited their' Website and was just quoting from memory the amounts they charge for several Models of Colts! It cost me $200 for a Letter on a Colt Bisley produced in 1901 and the Letter did not provide any real helpful or value increasing information.

That means the letter omitted barrel length, finish, stocks, and that SerNo ________ left the factory as a Bisley model Colt.
