Ruger #3 barrel swap

Will a ruger #3 accept a Ruger #1 barrel with out modifications?

  I wanted to swap a barrel in a #1 and was told that it isn't an easy job. Never pursued it any farther. It wud be nice if they were like the Savages in this respect.........Had a #3 but traded it off....it was a 45-70 and a real thumper.

  same receiver, I would say yes barrels are interchangable but most likely would require final setup on a lathe to get proper headspace. Fitting the forearm might be a challenge.

  yes but....the extractor slot may not 'time' (you have a 1 in 360 chance of it being right).
