glock 29 (SF) model differences
So on the 29sf specifically I have seen some models with picatinny rail and some with the traditional straight rail. Whats going on with this? Is it a special order for the tac rail? I am just confused because I have seen pictures, sale adds, and even youtube videos of 29 SFs with and with out the picatinny.

The glock 29 is not an outrageous popular model. Therefor, the newest version with the rail, being relatively new, there are still some previous versions in the system without the rail. So you have both floating around out there. Witht the glock, the rail is not an add-on, but is molded right into the gun.
I never really understood the reasoning for a rail anyway, just to add big bulky accessories, that take away from the carry ability of the gun.

So the new sf models have the molded tac rail, are you saying the dimensions are considerably larger at the rail section of the pistol? I mean would the tac rail sf fit to an old straight rail sf holster? Not a garbage one but a galco iwb.
Having a rail on a subcompact is a oxymoron to me. If its meant for concealment then why put a tac light on it? But thats my opinion. I only desire the glock 29 sf because I have smaller(women like) hands lol. Plus I have a hard on for 10mm.0 -
The original 21SF was designed to compete for a Military contract. That is why there are some with picatinny rails and some with the standard Glock Light rail. The Military Contract specified a picatinny rail rather than their standard rail. The picatinny rail can effect some holsters, and Glock doesn't recommend the picatinny rail version for LE sales for that reason. 0 -
