Hight Standard R101 Revolver
I just found one languishing in a local gun shop and gave it a good home. It appears to be in great condition; I guesstimate January 1957 production (Ser 670XXX)
Because it does not have the spring-loaded extractor, it has the usual scrape mark on the frame where the non-retracted star rubbed.
The question I have concerns hammer/trigger. Both are color case hardened (most color remaining). On others, I thought I saw blued or bare steel.
What is the "correct" coloring?

Far as I'm aware the only Sentinels that have any great collector demand/value, are the small run of snubies that High Standard made with the color anodized frames. John might know otherwise though.0 -
Mine looks just like yours. Well, maybe not as nice. The colors are still visible on the hammer though. 0 -
Sentinels are acquiring some collector interest. Not really in the books yet, but in a practical real world sense. Once common and commonly had in the $100. range, they are getting harder to find. And prices have been going up.
I had one years ago and liked it. But got the hots for something else and traded it. A few years back decided to replace it. What I found is that scant few are found at gunshows. And those that were had prices to $200.+. Regardless of condition. Extremely worn (finish) examples could still be found here on GB in the $125. to $150. range. (PLUS shipping FFL fees). Finally picked up a NICE one for $125. in a small town pawnshop. Which from my experience and what I've read of other gun forum posts, is the best way to buy them. Find a pawnshop that goes by book value and doesn't keep up w/the trends.
During the Obama gun buying frenzy, all .22 pistol became highly popular, more expensive and often hard to find. And the Sentinels were popular amoung the used models.0 -

I hope I looked that good when I was 53!0
