    No serial on frame, I am pretty sure they stamped it on the back of the stock in the hole that the loading rod goes into.

    Browning did not put serial no's on auto-22's until after 1955.

    Without doing further research, at least I have an example without a serial # on the receiver.

    i also have one, the # is on the bottom of the barrel under the forend

    On some of these the serial number is on the face of the receiver, visible only with the barrel assembly removed.
