Not a gun but a knife, need value of please.
I picked up a WWII Navy Corp man's knive and sheath at auction last night. The knife and sheath looked unissued. The knife is marked USMC and Village Blacksmith. The sheath is marked 42 (for 1942) BOYT. The sheath is the same for years 42 through 45 except on the 42s the USMC was not on them but the rest of the years were. Here are 3 pictures of it. I found one on line that was aboput 2 years ago at a $175 price and it was rough so I need a updated value. I appreciate any info.

A lot of them show up on flea bay. It would be the best place to get a idea of what a ballpark value would be.
I'm sure you realize the asking prices don't mean squat. Specially nowadays with so many people out of work and hurting. The actual selling price should be considered fair market value, not some tweakers pipe dream, of a starting price.0 -

jjmitchell60....I have several of these Navy Corpman's knives (more like a machette, actually). Value, like anything else, depends on condition of both the blade/handle and the sheath. Your blade looks like its in good condition (but what about the hood of the car???) and the stitching of the Boyt 43 sheath looks good but the photo is a bit too dark to see the entire sheath/condition. Typically pristine examples of this set sell in the $250+ range. Yours is not that so I would price it at $150+-. One of my three is kinda like yours (but a Boyt 44 leather sheath) and I wouldn't part with it for anything less than $150. But you must remember that the market is down so if I needed the $ like right now, would sell for $125. Hope this helps. 0 -

I agree with Gary. These knives are also referred to as "Bolo" knives and, although collectible, are not particularly rare. They generally sell in the $125-$150 range.0 -
I appreciate the info. I havbe been doing a bit of research on it in the mean time. The sheath is perfect and the knife is in really good condition, actually unissued. I found them from the $79 opening bid and up to $200 for the 42 marked sheathed ones. The 42 sheath was the only year to get past military inspectors without a US Marine mark on them. I will either keep it to add to the collection (I colect US Navy items due to teh fact I an a US Navy vet) or give it to a young man who joined the US Navy and is a corpman. He grew up with my kids and my youngest is in the USAF stationed near where the young lad is at.
