    The J-B works very good on rough bores.
    It depends on how rough it is, as how long it takes to clean it up.

    Another vote for JB, I've used it for years with good results.

    While I really like JB, if it is really a rough bore you might investigate a bore lapping kit.

    JB=axle grease+ 800 grit diamond lapping "dust"

    an old time shooter i once knew (about 40+ years ago) told me about this stuff and gave me a container about the size of the JB jar full, and i still have what i consider a "life time supply"

    JB will be very time consuming, you'll be better off with the gritty bullets from David Tubbs and then a bit of JB paste..

    +1 for mrbruce. I've used Tubbs polishing bullets followed by JB paste. The smoothness of cleaning patches in the bore is very noticeable. Accuracy of my M70 in 22-250 was still at or below 1 MOA after 4000 rounds even though the throat was eroded over .250".

    You will wear yourself out before you would ever wear a barrel out. It is good for fouling on a good barrel, but it will not smooth out a rough bore.
