Hawes was a importer/distributor located in Southern California. Doing business from approximately early 70's/ early 80's. Most of the stuff he sold was inexpensive German and Italian handguns. Although he did import some of Sauers excellent quality guns. He was one of the very early U.S. importers of the Sig Sauer 220, even before they were sold under the Browning name.

Either post quality photos of your revolver or give us a very specific description of all the markings on it. If it's either German or Italian it can be identified and dated from the Proof Marks.

I think some of the Hawes were Herbert Schmidt's as well. Especially the smaller frame ones (3/4 size?). As I recall Hawes had .22 SA that were full size, and these were Sauers. And the smaller ones were Herbert Schmidts.
These guns are usually pretty easy to fix. IF you can get parts. The Herbert Schmidt parts are pretty easy to find. Same gun as the FIE E-15 Buffalo Scout. And I believe many parts will swap w/the Tanarmi Excam TA-? .22 SA's.
I've never worked on Sauer model. But since they copies of the Colt SA, they are pretty simple. As far re-pinning the barrel, I suppose it would depend on WHY it's loose. Missing/worn pin. Wallowed out frame, or pin slot in barrel?

Thanks for the info gentlemen and apologies for the delay. I have had issues with my internet connection and am now back online. I do not have the means to post pictures at this time unfortunately. I have had the opportunity to ask a local gunsmith and he thinks he can eliminate the wiggle with a larger pin. The gun is at a second gunsmith who is quite busy so it might be up to 2 weeks before they have a chance to look at it so for now I am in limbo. will pick up this thread again after I hear from the 2ond smith.

    Thanks much
