Left hand model 70 value?

there's a winchester model 70 with left hand bolt at my local gunsmith for $600 including scope. worth it? I ask because The Wife is left handed and I've been looking for a rifle for her.

it's got the full mauser style pre-64 bolt FWIW.

Never seen one in left hand.

Wondering if I should buy it either for the old lady or see if I can flip it for a profit.

    If you don't buy it for the old lady, don't try to flip it for a profit. It is not ararity. It is a Model 70 Classic, of which USRAC made for Winchester for about the last 10 years they were in New Haven. Seeing pictures would help to identifyit as to what model it actually is, as there were so many variations.

    No sir. It is not a rarity, unless it is a bonified pre-64 Model 70 in a rare caliber. I do not believe that there were any south paw pre-64 made. That rifle was most likely made between 1994, and 2006, or possibly after 2007 when they started up production in Charleston. Go to this web site, and you can find a new lefty there.

    the bolt looks like a genuine left handed mauser, not a push feed post 64. I'll get the serial # next time I'm up there, maybe that'll clear this up.

    if it,s in good condition and with a scope it,s worth it. i have two of the classic sporters, one is a SS 270 walnut stock and the second one is a blue 7mm rem mag walnut stock,both are controlled feed and are ex shooters and work flawlessly. i think it would be hard to find a left handed rifle with scope in good condition for 600.00 any where. unless you steal it. eastbank.

    I Checked the Winchester Site and They Do not have any Left Handed Bolt Action Rifles Listed. $600 is a Good Price for Any Left Hand Rifle with a Scope.

    That is what I am trying to tell you. From 1994 to 2006, when the doors at New Haven closed, they made Model 70 Classic's, along with the push feed Model 7o. The Model 70 Classic has the Mauser claw extractor. I have a couple of them, and my favorate being, the Ultimate Shadow version in stainless, chambered in 25 WSSM.

    Like eastbank said with a scope and in nice shape its worth the money, besides you could always make an offer on it too, ask if he'd take $550 for it. The left hand guns are not rare, but you don't see a lot of them either, demand isn't there, I think we've sold one in the last 10 years versus tons of the right hand classics. Flipping it your profit would be in the value of the scope/rings as the gun alone is worth the $600. Cheap scope you got nothing a nice Leupold your doing better.

    they may have made alot of them,but compared to the right handed rifles made its not a large lot. price check a rem 700 cdl in the left hand model, even the 700 sps left hand youth wholesales for close to 500.00,also a browning A-bolt bolt action. is it a collector,maybe not. but if you are a winchester man and want a left hand model that is not a bad price. eastbank.
