    The topic of whether or not you can safely fire .38+P loads in non +P rated Smith J-frame revolvers comes up all the time, and you may hear different opinions on this.

    I've done quite a bit of looking into this, and in my opinion its perfectly safe to fire .38+P loads from these all steel Smith J frame guns, particularly in limited amount for occasional practice and carry.

    Personally speaking, I **ONLY** load my older .38s with .38+P rounds, and I've shot them through these guns with no issues at all.
