What would be the name or number of the metal that a rim fire firing pin would be made of? would it be a 4130 type of metal?

Most people call it "steel".
Some high-end firing pins are made of titanium, as the lighter weight allows the pin to move a bit faster, decreasing gun lock time.
As to which steel, there are multiple choices that can be used. Basically you want something hard, but not brittle.
Tool steel (used to make drill bits) can work. 17-4 stainless steel works. 4130 or 4140 chrome-moly steels could work too.

I guess that depends on what you are starting out with and the exact application, but in general, yes, these are usually hardened and tempered to relieve brittleness.
As one example, Ruger 10-22 stamps its firing pins out of sheet metal. Presumably they're hardened/tempered after that. . .I don't really know.
I think it can get away with a softer grade of steel for this, because the 10-22 rimfire design is such that the firing pin is too short to strike the hardened steel chamber; it only indents the brass cartridge rim.
But a non-hardened rimfire firing pin tip would quickly deform or break if it repeatedly bangs into a hardened steel rimfire chamber edge from dry-fires.0 -

Alloy steels would be a "high cost" item for a manufacture. Most likely they are made of some low carbon steel and then case hardened in batches. (hard case...soft core) 0 -

I used a piece of steel I had left over from high school metal shop to make a firing pin for an armscor 22. I just carburized the striker part and then reheated and dunked in water to harden it. Worked pretty well once it was all polished up and trimmed. 0
