S&W 1911PD

Have a chance to pu a S&W 1911Pd in .45, 5" w/tac rail used in box. By looking hasn't been shot much if any. No wear or marks. I havent shot a Smith yet and don't question the quality. Is anyone carrying and shooting one? And what do you think of it?

    It's my carry pistol, it shoots great. I bought mine used too, love it. Never leave home without it!

    Have a S&W 1911, shoots as well or better than some of my other 1911 pistols! Go for it!

    HEY! And thanks to all. I think i can get the gun for about $750 or $800. It is in a local shop and i am trying to buy it along with a shotgun they have.

    I too am a survivor not from cancer but from a life (from 8) of diabetes. After a double transplant and having diabetes for 44yrs. i no longer have it. I thank GOD every day and pray for the donor family.



    Become a donor. You don't knows life you may be saving.

    I personally believe that no one should go into the ground, or into a crematorium with perfectly fine organs that could be used to save another person's life. What a waste, all these people waiting on transaplant lists, dying, when organs that can save and prolong their life are being boxed up or burned to a crisp!

    Sorry for hijacking a perfectly good gun thread![;)]

    My opinion of a S&W 1911 is that it shoots fine. I'm impressed with the introduction of scandium alloy in a 1911. A coil spring lever arm extractor fails to impress me considering an internal may be retentioned in the field thus saving a life bringing the gun to service for a short period of time before failing again unlike a coil spring lever arm extractor that a hammer, pin punch, and vise are needed to remedy along with a new spring that you'll most likely have to go out of your way to get. I'm not impressed with sloppy trigger pad to frame fits either that seem to be so common on many other 1911s. I like a consistent trigger feel. If the price was right, I would be crazy not to get one, but it wouldn't be a carry gun. I love S&W.

    To answer the actual question, Smith and Wesson builds a perfectly good 1911 pistol, and it should work fine for anything you'd care to use a 1911 for. I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up if the price were good.

    Onto the "hijacked" question:

    Well, as a matter of fact, the overwhelming majority of people who die do so with organs that are not suitable for transplantation.

    Basically, for major organs like kidneys, liver, heart, etc, the DONOR has to either be alive or brain-dead (which means they are essentially alive) for the organs to be in good enough shape to transplant.

    THAT'S why transplantation organs are so scarce.

    Thanks again guys. I agree with all. I plan on trying to get the gun this week. But what do you think a resonable price would be for a gun that has no wear marks or looks never used? It shows on S&W's site to have a $1295 list.

    $839.50 is the dealer cost for the 1911PD .. I sell them new in shop for $899.. Hope that helps .. God Bless

    Gotta disagree...lots of people die in hospitals where their organs could be harvested if they had only signed a consent.
