    I think what you have is a copy of a Persian powder flask. The originals were made from a camel scrotum and BallPark Frank, and were stiched with senew. Honest.

    It may not be a copy, I based my assumptions of the vivid detail of the patterning and the links on the chain. I hope it turns out to be authentic, if so it should be in the 4 figures as far as value. I'm not sure if Ray Billings describes this flask in his book or not. It would be nice to get someone in the know to authenticate your flask.

    Those old Persians/Iranians must have been freaken crazy even way back then. Using Camel scrotums and BallPark Franks to make Powder Flasks was something I never could believe, they really must have been master craftsman.

    bigtire Looks intricate and utilitarian ... interesting whether original period piece or not ... Looks to be a keeper either way. Hope for you it is the real McCoy treasure that you have there.
