There was a guy on here a couple of months ago working on a reloadable 17 HMR. Just would like to know what parent case you settled on to make your reloadable 17 HMR? You were looking at 2500 to 2800 fps with a 20 gr bullet. How did the project turn out?

While it is an interesting idea, I would suggest just going with the .17 Remington Fireball (or the .17 Mach IV, basically same cartridge). It will give a little better than the 3600 fps you mention, brass and dies are readily available and easy to reload.

    I have a friend who has a 17 Kimber .
    Based on a 22 Hornet case .
I don't know if there is any commercial brass available .
    Ass kicking round !!

If you can get a copy of P.O. Ackley's Handbook for Shooters and Reloaders from 1962, he goes into detail on the effectiveness of small 17 cal wildcats on big critters like wild burros.
Unless bullets have changed since the '80s, which they may well have, they are soft and deform easily in reloading.

    5mm,

That is a pretty snotty little round for the powder used. I had a 17CCM, which the brass is no longer available for, but that same contact:

will make that 17CCM brass too.

The 17 CCM is more the actual size of the 17 HMR.
