"and chambered."..........just to note; if it is a revolver barrel it will not be chambered.

The barrel appears to be for the *Camp Perry* Model.

Added thoughts: The barrel Mr. Alfonse has shown a photo of in the previous string has a flanged 'Luger-type' boss (final part of visible barrel prior to entering the front of the gun). The Woodsman, judging by the one removed from the NFA category (also depicted in the previous string), does not have the 'Luger-type' boss. The front sight base (minus the blade, if I'm looking accurately) appears to be identical to the [pictured] 10in. Woodsman in the previous post.

Alas, as the previous string has been locked, I can't 'forward' the photos in question to this post.

The barrel looks to be a finished product..I can even discern the cutout on the back for an extractor. With the final patent date rollmarked onto the barrel being mid '20's, and without any further input, I'll say 'no' to it being for a break-top type action. Hope I helped. Joe

Agreed, but: If the cartridge was loaded in that cylinder block (72), wouldn't the unthreaded shank have to be cut off??

OK boys and girls. I want to thank everyone that replied to my posts. It is in fact a new never installed, Colt Camp Perry barrel. Never having seen one made it even harder for me to identify. I'll probably put it up for auction at some point. Thanks again- Al

Yes, it is a Camp Perry barrel. Over the years, I have seen a couple of Model S automatics with a 10-inch Camp Perry barrel installed. In every case, the owner claimed "special order" and valued them well above their true value. I like long-barreled handguns and would like to have one as a shooter, but not at a ridiculous premium. I have a Ruger Mark II with a 10-inch barrel that suffices to satisfy my desire for a long-barrel shooter.
