Ruger II with 14 inch barrel??
Friend just bought a SS Ruger II with a 14 inch barrel. Guy that sold it to him told him it was made by Ruger that way and why he hadn't heard of them and hadn't seen any was they were something experimental and very rare. My friend paid a pretty penny. I think he got took...never heard of such a think from Ruger...what do the experts say?

If nobody here knows anything specific about it? Have him contact the customer service folks at Ruger with the S.N. to find out what barrel was on it when it left the factory. Mark II's were first made in the early 80's, so it's not that old. You might also consider the collectors board on the Ruger forum, if anybody would know if it's legit it would be one of them. 0 -
I've seen factory Ruger MKIIs with really long barrels before, though I can't recall what the barrel length was. I *THINK* 10" was the standard long barrel length: 
Anyway, while not common, these are around. Is this what he has?
They're sort of a 'hand rifle'.
IMO, the weight and bulk of them makes them more gimmicky than useful.
Edit: There are aftermarket long barrels available, but if this is truly a Ruger factory barrel, you'd expect it to have the factory marks on it.0 -
There was a guy on the outdoor channel about a week ago shooting a MKII with a 14" barrel. Im almost positive it was VQ carbon fiber. 0 -
Call Ruger Service at (928) 778-6555 with the serial number and they'll tell you when and how it left the factory. Please let us know what you find out. 0
