Max Wolf Gewehrf, Zella-Mehlis
Has anyone ever heard of a "Max Wolf Gewehrf, Zella-Mehlis" 7mm bolt action rifle? These words in quotes is all that is stamped on the top of the barrel with the exception of a few proof marks. I believe "gewehrf" means rifle, gun, or arms in German and "Zella-Mehlis" is a town in Germany and I think that "Max Wolf" is the maker of the gun. Is this gun rare? Is it worth anything? Any information would be awesome, I just can't find anything about it.

There were many gunmakers with the last name Wolf around Z-M and Suhl. I don't see a Max in any of my German books but does not matter. All rifles of this type have to be evaluated on their own merits.

Here are some photos. When I searched for what is printed on the barrel I got one hit from a forum where someone acquired one and someone else was saying how lucky they were. Interesting.

It appears to have been originally a military rifle that was later sporterized. Likely it was brought back after the war by a GI. The pad and taped holes in the receiver most likely were done Stateside. If it's a descent shooter your ahead of the game. I don't see it being a big buck collectors item though.
The Germans added a date to their proof marks in the 1920's. The 232 marking on the proofs might translate to Feb. 1932?0
